Celtic are continuing to "keep tabs" on Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Jakob Breum this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Dane has been a long-term target for the Bhoys across several recent transfer windows, and has now been given a valuation of £4.4million this summer.
Breum is about to enter the final year of his contract in the Eredivisie, and it is understood that his price tag is "more than affordable" for Celtic.
However, the 22-year-old is also subject to interest from both Sunderland and Fulham, creating a hurdle for Martin O'Neill and Co. to overcome.
Celtic are aware that it will be difficult to beat the Premier League duo if it becomes a straight race for the midfielder's signature.
Breum caught the eye with Go Ahead Eagles once again last term, as he notched six goals and five assists from 28 league games.
Breum has become a key player for Go Ahead Eagles since they signed him from Danish side Odense back in 2023.
The midfielder has outlined himself as one of the first names on their team sheet, and even managed to notch 10 league goals from the middle of the park back in 2024-25.
He is destined for bigger things in the coming years, and the Dutch outfit are now facing a pivotal few months regarding his future.
With the clock running down on Breum's deal in Deventer, the club are at a crossroads, with this summer their best chance to cash in on him.
That has prompted Celtic to reignite their interest once again, knowing that a deal is likely to be on the cards for the right buyer.
The Bhoys are facing uncertainty surrounding the futures of Arne Engels and Benjamin Nygren, and Breum is seen as a strong candidate to replace their quality if needed.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Celtic are exploring obscure markets this summer amid links with Astana midfielder Ivan Basic.
The ex-recruitment man pointed out that PSG star Kvicha Kvaratskhelia came through the Georgian league, which is deemed to be a similiar standard to Kazakhstan, where Basic is currently playing.
Brown emphasised that while not every player will turn out like Kvaratskhelia, Celtic need to explore rarely visited markets to find their next gem.
He made it clear that they cannot compete with Premier League clubs for more well-known stars, so could be better served by "thinking outside the box."
