Inter Milan are exploring the possibility of signing both Manu Koné from Roma and Curtis Jones from Liverpool this summer, as Cristian Chivu looks to reshape his midfield following the expected departure of Davide Frattesi.

According to Tuttosport, via CalcioMercato, Koné is Inter’s primary domestic target. The French midfielder joined Roma from Borussia Mönchengladbach for €18 million plus €2 million in bonuses in the summer of 2024 and has made 81 appearances for the Giallorossi, contributing four goals and six assists.

Contracted until June 2029 at €2.8 million net per season, Roma may be willing to sell as part of efforts to comply with financial fair play regulations.

Inter had already attempted to sign Koné last August without success, but are ready to return with a fresh approach on Chivu’s recommendation. A potential deal could involve Roma receiving Carlos Augusto and/or Frattesi in exchange, a swap that would suit both clubs’ needs heading into the summer.

Should Koné arrive, Tuttosport reports it would not necessarily preclude a second midfield signing.

Curtis Jones is contracted to Liverpool until June 2027 at €500,000 net per season, a modest wage that would make the deal financially straightforward. The England international is viewed as a complement to rather than a replacement for Koné.

Both players share the same 2001 birth year, fitting Inter’s profile of signing players in their prime years. Jones is also seen as an alternative to the dream of signing Nico Paz, who Real Madrid are expected to repurchase from Como for €10 million at the end of the season before deciding his next destination.
